surgical-10Bioteck membranes are available in a complete line for each regenerative need. In bone regeneration anatomic conditions and blood supply at the grafting site can strongly influence the regeneration speed. It is therefore very important to cover the grafting site with a membrane assuring the correct protection time. Bioteck membranes are available either as collagen or pericardium ones. They are characterized by different protection times because of the different bio-physical features of each material. All are completely reabsorbable and need not to be removed.

The Biocollagen membrane made of collagen from Achille’s tendon, is particularly easy to handle.

The protection time is 4-6 weeks. After this period, the barrier effect is no more guaranteed, and resorption begins. It is the best option to cover small defects where regeneration occurs rapidly. If left dry, works as haemostatic and it is initially rigid. This can help to contain granular grafts.

surgical11The Heart membranes are obtained from natural pericardium by an exclusive Bioteck deantigenation process. This treatment is such that the tridimensional structure and the links between collagen fiber and elastin (the main pericardium components) are left untouched. This gives the membranes a long protection time and a mechanical resistance that allows them to be sutured without any risk of tearing. The presence of not-denatured collagen facilitates bone regeneration, making HEART membranes the ideal choice for a great number of applications

The protection time is 3-4 months after this time degredation begins, and the membrane is no longer occlusive

surgical12The cortical membrane is a thin layer of cortical bone made flexible thanks to a proprietary demineralisation process. The advantage of this membrane is the long protection time histologics show it is still occlusive after 6 months from being grafted. Nonetheless it is totally remodelable, so there is no need for second surgery to remove it.

It is indicated to protect all those grafts when regeneration is believed to occur slowly (lacking of bone walls, great volume to be regenerated).
